University Level Courses

The course is designed for Foundation Students who now wish to achieve a full BA (Hons) degree on a part time basis. Students can still be employed and attend College for one evening a week. It is useful if they work in an educational setting but not compulsory, but they will need access to a setting to carry out the education research. The programme analyses various elements of the education world today and builds on the knowledge and skills the learners have already acquired from degree level study. The learning sessions are based around seminars, discussions, research and practical activities. The programme is relevant to any practitioner who wishes to work in any section of the education world from nursery, through to high school, through to social services etc. There is a strong emphasis on inclusion and particular needs in every module. It is a level 6 programme which means much of the work is research and choosing areas of education you would like to explore. Students will have lots of support including personal tutorials and individual supervision with their main research project. Emails are answered daily and telephone chats or TEAMS meetings can be arranged on any day by mutual agreement. Students will be The University Of Derby students so will have access to the full facilities of the main campus in Derby including any of the social events.

Once you have completed this course you will discover wide-ranging career opportunities in fields relating not only to education but also to social care, health care, careers and guidance, and the voluntary sector. All of your work will be assessed by essays, reports, a research study and presentations.

A Foundation Degree passed with grades above 50% and 240 credits.
