Maths & English
It’s never too late to brush up on your Maths and English skills, to give you the confidence to move on to further study at College or University, or even to apply for a new job.
Adults: We offer Functional Skills Level 2 and GCSEs in both maths and English for adults – and if you didn’t achieve a grade C or above at school, the course is free! GCSE courses start in September, but Functional Skills courses can be started at various points throughout the year. To find out how to apply, click here.
School Leavers: For young people aged 16-18 enrolled onto our full-time courses and/or apprenticeships, if you did not achieve grade C/4 or above when you sat maths and/or English GCSE exams at school you will also be enrolled onto an appropriate maths and/or English course at College. You will be assessed within your induction period to identify what level you should enrol onto; this will either be GCSE or Functional Skills.
At Buxton & Leek College, we have an excellent reputation for our post-16 and adult maths and English results, this year performing at an incredible 12.5% above the national average in GCSE English and at a truly spectacular 19.1% above average achievement in maths.
