The Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness course is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of mental health issues and develop skills which will enable them to progress into a career in the health and social care sector by preparing you for further training.
This course will provide you with an introductory level of knowledge and understanding in relation to mental health issues and is split into the following four sections:
- What is meant by mental health
- The social and personal effects of mental ill health
- The responses to mental health issues
- Cultural diversity in relation to mental health issues
Since this is an online course, you can choose when and where you study. Your assessor will ensure you get all the support you need to complete the course; however, you will need to be self-motivated and able to work against the pressures of studying independently. You will be expected to complete reading and research to support your learning and will find it useful to be able to engage with IT resources, including internet, email and Microsoft Teams. You will record evidence of your knowledge and understanding in an online portfolio.
