Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

- Formula 1
- Covid vaccination production
- Life Science
- Oil and Gas
- Defence and Aerospace
Roles and responsibilities
- Setting and operating modern CNC machine centres
- Understanding and interpreting technical drawings
- Creating CNC programs using the latest CAD software
- Making changes to existing CNC programs to meet drawing requirements
- Using precision measurement systems

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan
You will attend the Leek Campus (college transport is available) on a weekly basis, spending time with other apprentices in the workshop, CAD/CAM suites etc.
You will also be visited in the workplace by a college instructor-mentor on a regular basis, they will complete observations, have professional discussions and mentor you throughout your apprenticeship.

You will receive extensive training and mentoring in the workplace, supported by a training plan that will complement your college training.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE English (Grade 4 or above) essential
- GCSE Maths (Grade 4 or above) essential
- GCSE Science (Grade 4 or above) essential
