Tell me about the course
The apprentices will be taught how to produce components using hand fitting,
machinery and modelling techniques. They will be taught highly skilled, complex, and
precise working methods, as well as machining components using conventional and/or
CNC machine tools such as centre lathes, vertical milling machines, and multi-axis CNC
machines. They will be taught how to interpret engineering data and documentation
such as drawings, technical data, and computer-generated programmes. You will be
expected to work to industry standards throughout your apprenticeship.
In addition to the relevant mathematics for engineering technicians, apprentices will
learn to understand the importance of good communication, complying with statutory
regulations and organisational safety requirements. Apprentices will gain knowledge in
maintaining mechanical devices and keeping the working area safe. The apprentices
will understand how to carry out preventative planned maintenance on engineered
systems, machinery and how to complete hand-over when finished.Example units
