Motor Vehicle & Logistics Adult Short Courses

This course is designed for motor vehicle repair and recovery technicians, aged 19 or over, who need to update their skills, knowledge and CPD records to allow safe working on the rapidly expanding range of hybrid and electric light vehicles. 

The Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair & Replacement will provide you with the knowledge to work safely when carrying out repair activities on Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage systems.

You will gain the knowledge and skills required to safely carry out routine maintenance and repair activities on electric/hybrid vehicles. This may include vehicles that have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.  

The course contains two mandatory units. The first covers all the skills and knowledge from IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles Routine Maintenance Activities. And the second unit covers: 

• Working safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle 
• Using information to carry out the task 
• Carrying out repairs on high energy electrical systems 
• Recording information and making suitable recommendations  
• This course will be delivered in a variety of ways including formal lessons in the classroom, directed self-study and practical demonstrations in the workshop. You will also have access to the automotive e-learning software developed by Electude. Information is delivered in an interactive game-like style which makes components and their operation easier to understand. It is also accessible online anytime, anywhere. At BLC you will benefit from studying at our Specialist Training Centre on the Harpur Hill Industrial Estate. These industry standard facilities offer a real-world learning experience where you will be working on cars donated to us by Toyota and using tools donated by Snap-On.  

Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement 

If you achieve this qualification, you will have the significant core knowledge and skills to work safely around and maintain Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage systems. You may go on to complete further CPD courses specifically for your workplace requirements for example “F” Gas or MOT update. 

You will be assessed on your knowledge through a combination of written assessments, practical assessments and online examinations. 

You must be currently working as a repair or recovery technician and previously achieved the Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance.
