The Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is ideal for anyone wishing to study accountancy and finance alongside a range of complementary business and personal skills. The purpose of the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is to offer the foundation accounting knowledge needed to progress to employment or further study in accountancy and finance, alongside business and personal skills that are transferable to any sector and additional business knowledge relevant to accountancy. 

The Level 2 Certificate in Accounting covers a broad range of core accounting skills, as well as accountancy-related business skills and personal skills.  

Key themes have also been introduced throughout the suite of accounting qualifications, including technology, ethics, sustainability and communication. 

This qualification comprises four mandatory units (255 guided learning hours in total): •Introduction to Bookkeeping 

• Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
• Principles of Costing
• The Business Environment. 

Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, information technology (IT) skills and an understanding of the business environment, as well as an understanding of daily finance/accounting functions. 

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting

AAT Level 3 in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
AAT Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Good working knowledge of Maths and English.

GCSEs preferred.

 The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue or progress their career in accountancy or finance.

The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks.  

Students will look at and become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications and will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports.  

Students will also learn about specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit and debit management and cash and financial management. 

Key themes have also been introduced throughout the suite of accounting qualifications, including technology, ethics, sustainability and communication.  

This qualification comprises three mandatory units and two specialist units selected from a choice of five options (390 guided learning hours in total). 

The mandatory units are: 

• Applied Management Accounting
• Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements
• Internal Accounting Systems and Controls. 

The optional units are: 

• Business Tax
• Personal Tax

AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting

AAT Full membership and license to practice.

Progression academically to Degree level.

Progression vocationally to professional bodies ACCA, ACA etc.

Ideally learners will already have AAT Level 2 and 3 in Accounting or comparable qualifications and GCSE’s in Maths and English – Grade 4 or above.
