After sailing through her BTEC National Diploma in Travel & Tourism, Rebekah enjoyed her last six-week holiday ever – before starting to work to help other people plan theirs.
Eighteen-year-old Rebekah not only gained a triple distinction in her Buxton & Leek College course, but she gained enough confidence to land a job as a travel consultant apprentice at the end of it. She started work with Thomas Cook in Congleton, the travel agency where she did her work experience.
“I never enjoyed school but loved every minute of my college course because the learning was more practical. We did all sorts of exciting stuff including a trip to Disneyland in Paris, a visit to the Ventura cruise ship in Southampton and an airline cabin crew course. I think all the practical learning, including a lot of role play, gave me the confidence I needed to perform well at my interview and get the job I dreamed of. I know I’ll never enjoy a six week summer holiday again but I’m really looking forward to earning a proper wage and helping other people plan their holidays.”
“When I left school in Congleton, a friend recommended Buxton & Leek College and I’m glad I chose it. My Travel and Tourism course was really varied and interesting.“
