The only regret Jess has about her course at Buxton & Leek College is that she didn’t start it sooner!
Eighteen-year-old Jess, who passed her BTEC Extended Diploma in ICT with flying colours and earned herself a place at University of Derby to study a BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree, made rapid progress after switching to college last year from an A level course at school.
“I’d passed my AS levels in Maths, ICT, Geography and Business but I only really enjoyed the ICT so I left school and joined Buxton & Leek College where I could concentrate on that. I’m really glad that I did because I’ve now got the equivalent of three A levels at A* and A grades and, above all, I’ve really enjoyed the course. I just wish I’d come to college in the first place. It’s a totally different atmosphere from school and I like the fact that the lecturers treat you with respect.“
