Arthur hasn’t let his learning difficulties hold him back when it comes to speaking up for students at Buxton & Leek College.
Arthur, aged 24, has grown in confidence so much thanks to his Foundation Learning course that he’s now part of the college’s governing body. He enjoys playing an active role in college life and, in particular, taking students’ views to the Management Board. As a student governor, Arthur attends regular meetings where he can voice students’ opinions.
“I’ve enjoyed Buxton & Leek College because there’s a lot of help and support on offer to anyone who needs it. I’ve done a variety of taster courses including horticulture, IT, Maths and English, Woodwork and my Independent Living course which I gained a lot from. I’m living on my own now for the first time after living in shared accommodation and I’m aiming to do some voluntary work before returning to college in September.”
