Eighteen year old Amy enjoyed her two year course in Health and Social Care because of the variety of work experience it offered her. After passing her Level 3 BTEC she has gained a qualification and also a career at the care home where she completed her first placement. Amy is employed as a care assistant at Abbey Court Nursing Home, where she enjoys her work immensely and she is a valued member of the team. “I chose to do the course because it opens the door to so many different careers and there are lots of opportunities to go on placements. In my first year alone I went to a nursing home and a school for children with additional needs. I knew I wouldn’t be limited in my choice of career after completing the course because you can go into nursing, midwifery, elderly care, working in primary education, social work or a hospice setting.”
