Buxton’s iconic Devonshire Dome and All Saints Church in Leek hosted the summer ceremonies last week when the best student and most improved student from each course were awarded prizes. And, for the first time, the silver salvers presented to the students were engraved in-house by the College’s engineering team who used the new laser equipment at the new £3 million training facility in Leek.
Additional awards were presented by Amy Horner, Vice President of the University of Derby Students Union, who handed College Hero awards after revealing that Buxton & Leek College students across both campuses raised a stunning £28,933 for charity throughout the academic year just ended.
Certificates and silver salvers were presented by Professor Kath Mitchell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Derby with students being addressed by College Principal Len Tildsley and Olivia Dean, Chair of the Further Education Governing Council.
Motor Vehicle students from the Harpur Hill-based training centre received specially donated trophies and prizes from Snap-On Tools, the Institute of the Motor Industry and ABC Awards while Elemis provided prizes for the Leek-based Beauty Student of the Year.
There was also a special presentation made to the Buxton & Leek College football team who won the Association of Colleges Category D League and picked up their trophy last Wednesday.
A link to all the photos taken at both events will be sent in the post to students in August, which will also include details about how to request copies of the photos.
