WHETHER they are considering catering or have designs on a career as an artist, teenagers can sample college courses for free at half-term taster sessions being organised by Buxton & Leek College in February.
Students in years 10 and 11 are being invited to check out the many options offered at both the Buxton and Leek campuses of the college in the week running from Monday February 15 to Friday February 19.
Leek campus offers a chance to check out the brand new Carpentry and Joinery or Engineering workshops as well as new facilities for Art and Design. There’s also a chance to spend time in the Hair and Beauty salons at both campuses.
Over in Buxton, learners can also discover what’s on offer in Travel and Tourism, Media, Public Services, Computing and ICT, Hospitality and Catering, Motor Vehicle, Childcare or Logistics, Warehousing and Storage.
Young Persons Recruitment Officer for Buxton & Leek College, Louise Fletcher said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to sample a ‘taste’ of a course area that they have a genuine interest in, as well as experiencing how different college life is from being at school.”
A Year 10 student who attended a Beauty taster session last October half term said:
“I loved being in the Salon and learning how to do hand massages. It has made me think I would like to do a Beauty course when I leave school.”
Sessions will be running throughout the half term week between 9am and 12 and between 1pm and 4pm. To find out more click here or call the college on 0800 074 0099 to book your place.
