WITH children back at school and nights drawing in, a host of new learning opportunities on offer at Buxton & Leek College invites adults of all ages to put their leisure time to good use this autumn.
A whole programme of evening classes is on offer at the College’s Devonshire Dome Buxton Campus and you don’t need any qualifications or prior experience to attend.
Run by the college’s Adult and Community Learning, this autumn’s Learning for Leisure opportunities offer new classes includes an Introduction to Publishing Skills offering learners the chance to pick up tips on proof reading and copy editing. Creative types are invited to try their hand at floristry with a special class running on Flowers for Christmas. Meanwhile Seasonal Cookery and Kitchen Medicine promise to help you get the most out of what’s in the kitchen cupboards – either to create meals or heal yourself with herbs.
Sue Baker, the College’s Community Learning Co-ordinator, said: “We do our best to offer adults the chance to try something new through our Learning for Leisure courses. They offer a great chance for adults to make new friends and get out of the house on dark winter evenings.
“If learners are looking for something which we currently don’t have on offer, I would ask them to contact us and we can look at providing it. If the demand is out there, we will do our best to meet it.”
Learners can pick up a timetable at the Devonshire Dome or their local library for details of all these and other leisure courses, check out the college website at www.blc.ac.uk or call 0800 74 0099. Places must be booked in advance on all courses.
