Buxton & Leek College are proud to be a key member of the High Peak Tourism Partnership and this week they welcomed members to the Devonshire Dome in Buxton.
Head of Marketing & Recruitment for Buxton & Leek College, Gareth Hughes, welcomed visitors to the Buxton campus “It is important that as a college we play a pivotal role in the area and having you in the iconic Devonshire Dome, our home in Buxton, showcases the incredible work our students and staff do”.
As well as enabling key organisations involved in the economy of the town to network effectively, the partnership provides collaboration, key to the strategic delivery of the wider tourism agenda across the high peak.
During the visit, partner members discussed forthcoming events and activities within the Buxton and High Peak area, as well as community engagement, accessibility, and the tourism strategy for visitors to the area. Through the College and various external stakeholders, members are also working to make connections which will widen career opportunities for young people in the area; ultimately creating a talent pipeline designed to encourage and nurture sector specific skills.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Chair of the partnership and deputy Leader of the Council (and Executive Member for Regeneration, Tourism & Leisure) said, “There’s always been a tension between what’s being done for visitors and what’s being done for residents, we’re focused on striking the right balance between the two to make sure that everyone benefits from the work that we do.”
