SUNDAY May 8 promises a visual feast for visitors to Buxton’s famous Devonshire Dome when trainee hairdressers and beauty and spa therapists from Buxton & Leek College battle it out in their annual show of talent.
More than 150 learners of all ages will show off their skills to produce a catwalk show using their own volunteer models. Contestants have a chance to let their imaginations run wild as they interpret a theme under the gaze of judges and a live audience.
The event opens at noon and prizes will be presented to the winners of each category from 4.45pm with themes ranging from Space and Disney to Avant Garde for make-up and Twisted Ways to Hair Tattoo for the hairdressing students to interpret.
Visitors are welcome to view the afternoon show free of charge and refreshments will be available.
Head of Hair and Beauty at Buxton & Leek College Karen Wardley said: “Our annual hair and beauty show is all about raising students’ aspirations by encouraging them to compete and giving them the chance to show off their skills and boost their confidence. We’ve got trainees of all ages taking part from fourteen to sixteen year olds, through apprentices, to mature students. It promises to be a great show.”
