The Foxlowe Arts Centre and Buxton & Leek College, will be hosting the fifth annual Staffordshire Contemporary Artists & Designers Fair on Saturday 3 December and Sunday 4 December from 10am until 4pm, and entry is free.
The popular two day event hosts a wide variety of inspirational creative work by professional artists, designers and makers, alongside Foundation Degree students from Leek School of Art, part of Buxton & Leek College.
The fair will showcase painting, printmaking, ceramics, glass, jewellery, woodwork and more from around the region. More than 20 professional artists will attend the event including landscape artist Jackie White who has recently been selected to be part of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year programme, ceramic designer Sarah Taylor whose work featured in Stoke on Trent’s regeneration Garden at the Chelsea Flower show and 3D illustrator Chris Thompson, who works with treasured items and quirky objects, creating illustrative pieces.
Chris said: “I love seeing how materials with a latent history can be transformed, reworked, re-loved and given new life”.
Over the two days there will also be a raffle to raise money for The Hummingbird Project, a local charity, organised by Degree student Laura Hyland, who raise funds for and provide aid to Syrian refugees across Europe. Visitors can also tuck into home-made food and cakes served at the café at the Foxlowe Arts Centre.
Event organiser Suzanne Mellor said: “Both artists and visitors are bound to have a fantastic time at this year’s fair. It will be a wonderful opportunity for shoppers to find beautiful things for themselves and their homes as well as being the perfect place to get started on some Christmas shopping. It’s a key date for anyone interested in discovering individual and unique artworks”.
