We are honoured to congratulate two of our own Buxton & Leek College students who recently received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement from the University of Derby.
Sadye Parry- the first of our winners- recently completed an HND in Business and Management at Buxton & Leek College. During her final year, Sadye achieved a distinction in all her assignments- averaging a very impressive grade of 79%.
When asked about Sadye’s achievement- Business Management Tutor, Helen Finney, said:
“An exceptional student. […] No one reads more books, journals or articles than Sadye which was reflected in the grades of her final two modules where she achieved 90% and 82%”
Sadye has since used her HND to secure her first role within the Accounts Department of a company based in Stockport. Within this new role, Sadye will be returning to Buxton & Leek College once a week to study Level 3 AAT and continue on her career path to becoming a Qualified Accountant.
Kurtis Brown- currently in the second year of his HND in Business and Management at our Buxton Campus- also received the Dean’s Award. Alongside his studies, Kurtis has not only managed to uphold but has progressed within his full-time job; gaining valuable work experience across a variety of areas including sales, exports, customer service and production.
When asked to comment on his achievement- Business Management Tutor, Helen Finney, said:
“He is hard working and focussed on his studies whilst holding down a busy full time job for an Engineering company[…] Kurtis has secured high grades in his studies in his second year breaking into the Distinction bracket for the first time which I am sure he will repeat in his final year.”
