TEENAGERS interested in furthering their education at college have an unmissable offer to try before they apply at Buxton & Leek College this month.
Campuses in both towns are offering free taster sessions for students in Years 10 and 11 over half term week from October 24 to 28. Whether you want to do performing arts or are considering a career in catering, there’s a chance to spend a morning or afternoon in college, meet the tutors, tour the facilities and actually try out the course on offer.
Young Persons Recruitment Officer Louise Fletcher said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to sample a ‘taste’ of a course area that they have a genuine interest in, as well as experiencing how different college life is from being at school. Students can book on to as many workshops as they like to give them a chance to make an informed decision about their future career pathway.”
Sessions will be running at Leek and at Buxton between 9.30 am and 12 noon and from 1.30 pm until 4 pm offering all manner of opportunities from Art and Design to Motor Vehicle, Carpentry and Joinery to Childcare and Education. More than 15 different taster sessions are on offer and they are available in groups which can be arranged through school. Alternatively, contact enquiries@blc.ac.uk to book your place now.
