Past Buxton & Leek College student, Mitchell Collier, is flying high as the Duty Manager of the exclusive Belmond Cadogan Hotel in London which opened in 2019.
This follows his role as Guest Relations Manager at Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat’saisons, a prestigious restaurant in Oxford set up by Raymond Blanc.
Mitchell, age 23, studied Hospitality & Catering at Buxton & Leek College after initially deciding he wanted to become a pastry chef, before he discovered a love of hospitality and a desire to open his own restaurant in the future.
Mitchell said: “Buxton & Leek College was essential for my success today. Without the course I would probably not be in the position I am in today. The programme taught us valuable skills that I have gone on to use in my career, and I had to work in front of house and in the resultant kitchens. This was where I developed my love for working front of house and decided to focus my attention on developing those skills.
“My tutor, Anne Barber, was a fantastic mentor. She gave us insight into the operational workings of a hotel and a great understanding of the path ahead. During my work experience I worked in front of house at a variety of hotels which really helped me build my CV, experience and confidence.
“The course really set me up to go on and succeed. Buxton & Leek College gave me the tools to really thrive in my early career.”
Anne Barber, Curriculum Lead for Hospitality & Catering, said: “We’re extremely proud of Mitchell and how he’s progressed in his career. He was a dedicated and passionate student, and this has shone through in each of the roles that he’s had in the industry. We wish him every success at the Belmond Cadogan Hotel.”
Buxton & Leek College offers a range of full-time programmes and apprenticeships for school leavers, as well as adult education and GCSEs.
