Buxton & Leek College has announced that a wide range of apprenticeship vacancies are available this Spring as part of the College’s commitment to “real world learning.”
To celebrate the growing apprenticeship division, working with around 150 regional businesses, Len Tildsley, Principal of Buxton & Leek College embarked on a day’s “job-swap” with one of the apprentices. Len switched his usual Monday morning meetings with some of the duties that the hospitality and catering apprentices perform at Hotel Rudyard, Nr. Leek.
“I’ve really enjoyed being at Hotel Rudyard, one of the many regional employers we work with to offer apprenticeships.” Said Len Tildsley
“I think it is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in hospitality, catering and customer service jobs – to start their training and career with an apprenticeship.” He added.
Starting off in the Hotel’s bedrooms, Len’s “job-swap” tasks included making-up the beds before moving into the kitchens to prepare food. The Apprentice Commis Chef and Customer Relations Apprentice vacancies are currently being advertised at the Hotel, in partnership with Buxton & Leek College.
The 11th National Apprenticeship Week (NAW 2018) brought together employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships in a bid to encourage more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast-track to a great career.
Assistant Manager at Hotel Rudyard, Jade Wilkins said:
“We’re looking forward to recruiting apprentices to fill these vacancies and chose Buxton & Leek College as a local reputable provider to help us with this. These roles are open to young people aged 16 or above and adults – we attract a large number of visitors to our restaurant, to stay over in our hotel rooms and also for large events such as weddings and parties. There will be potential to join our team on a permanent basis and progress within the business.”
Both job vacancies are advertised on the College website which details the full job descriptions and application process. Visit here:
