WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
  • INDUCTION

Once you have enrolled, the next time we will see you will be the first day of your programme, which will be Thursday 2nd September.

It is our aim to make sure that you have a fantastic experience with us at Buxton & Leek College, starting with your Induction. During your first few weeks you will find out more about what to expect at college through a series of induction activities. You will find out about your tutors, your programme, the module you will be learning and how you will develop skills. You will also get information about the support and facilities available to you.

As you are hopefully aware, Buxton & Leek College is part of the University of Derby and if your programme is campus-based it will be delivered at the University of Derby’s Kedleston Road campus in Derby. For more information about student life at the Derby Campus, visit www.derby.ac.uk/life/our-campuses/

  • BURSARY & FINANCIAL SUPPORT

We will assess the details that you provide to identify if you are required to pay fees or if you are entitled to any fee remittance. We will contact you following the completion of the online enrolment to discuss this with you – you will not have to pay for any part of your tuition fees at this stage.

During your time at College, there may be things you have to pay for to fully engage with your programme, this includes things like; food and drinks if you’re on campus, childcare support for the days you are timetabled to be on your programme and any additional costs for uniform, kit and equipment.

You may need to plan ahead and budget for these, or depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support from one of the bursary schemes we have available, including:

  • 19+ Learner Support Fund
  • Advanced Learner Loan Bursary

Students who are attending on a full-time further education programme (level 1-4) and meet income and residency criteria are encouraged to apply. The application form and further information are available online here: www.blc.ac.uk/financial-support/funding-bursaries-loans

Or alternatively you can request an appointment to complete your application with an adviser, by calling 01298 330817

Once again, we’re really looking forward to you joining us at BLC. If you have any questions whatsoever about enrolment, the College, your programme, induction, or anything else please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are available throughout the Summer from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. You can call us on 0800 074 0099 or email us at access@derby.ac.uk

We hope you enjoy the rest of the Summer!
