If there’s one life lesson I’ve learnt while at college, it’s that making enough time to study can be difficult when you get caught up in your social life. I mean we all do it right? The problem for me is that I can’t relax knowing that I have assignments to complete while I’m trying to have a good time out with my friends.
It may sound simple, but the way I went about fixing this problem was to always make sure that I’d completed any assignments that were due in before going out. Once I’d completed them I treated going out with my mates as a way of rewarding myself, and I soon realised that I felt so much better by doing this. There are no magical ways to study but you can definitely make life easier for yourself.
By using social time as a reward I was able to go out with my mates without the stress of coursework. It was like a big weight had been lifted off of my shoulders and I had nothing to worry about anymore whilst I was out. I’m sure most of you reading this have felt the same at some point and have been close to the edge of a melt down with coursework building up on top of you and not knowing where to start.
The easiest thing you might resort to is just going out with our mates, right? But really we all know this is not the way forward, nothing ever gets easier if you put it off for a few hours. The longer you put work off the less likely you are to get it done – FACT. So to anyone out there who has felt the same way, just focus and get the work done!
Another tip I’d definitely give to any student is to consider starting an assignment as soon as the topic has been taught to you, this way all the information you have learnt is fresh in your mind. I guarantee that if you do this you will find completing your assignments so much easier.
If you decide to leave your coursework till the last minute every time you’ll find that you struggle a lot more because the stress of having to get it done will affect the way you work, and how much you enjoy your free time. It’s always better to get work done first and really make the most of your social life afterwards.
