Engineering Apprentice

Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join us, we are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers for precision machined plastic components. Our products are supplied into diverse applications.

Annual wage £16,640 a year
Plus, profit related bonus scheme
Training course; Maintenance and operations engineering technician
Hours; 40 hours per week (this includes day release) Monday-Thursday 8.00am – 5.00pm Friday – 8.00am – 1.30pm College days and start times to be specified

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Setting and operating modern CNC machine centres
  • Understanding and interpreting technical drawings
  • Creating CNC programs using the latest CAD software
  • Making changes to existing CNC programs to meet drawing requirements
  • Using precision measurement systems

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan

You will attend the Leek Campus (college transport is available) on a weekly basis, spending time with other apprentices in the workshop, CAD/CAM suites etc.

You will also be visited in the workplace by a college instructor-mentor on a regular basis, they will complete observations, have professional discussions and mentor you throughout your apprenticeship.

You will receive extensive training and mentoring in the workplace, supported by a training plan that will complement your college training.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE English (Grade 4 or above) essential
  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4 or above) essential
  • GCSE Science (Grade 4 or above) essential
