Commis Chef Apprentice

Commis Chef required for busy country Pub/Restaurant in Congleton to work alongside our friendly and busy team and build their skills.

Apprenticeship summary

Annual wage

£11,648 to £20,820.80 a year

You will receive a share of tips in addition to your pay, staff discount available, free meal provided if your shift is 8+ hours and some uniform will be provided.

Working week

You will work 35 hours per week on a rota basis, shifts will include some evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Your working time will include college hours.

Total hours per week: 35 hours a week

Expected duration

18 Months

What will the apprentice be doing?

The successful applicant will undertake duties such as:

  • Veg prep
  • Pot washing
  • Desert prep and creation
  • Assisting and working alongside current kitchen team and head chef
  • Food safety checks and due diligence.
  • Delivery intake and stock rotation
  • Date labelling
  • Creation of dishes for specials menu
  • Support with costings etc.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprentice will study towards their Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

The apprentice will attend college on a weekly basis in the Buxton Campus, college transport is available including a free shuttle bus between Buxton & Leek Campuses.

Alongside college attendance, the apprentice will be visited in the workplace by their assigned college Instructor-Mentor and receive training in the workplace from the Head Chef and wider experienced team.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We envisage this as a permanent position provided there is satisfactory progress through the apprenticeship.
